Fire Cement

Wood burning stove fire cement, also known as stove cement or furnace cement, is a high-temperature resistant adhesive used to seal and repair cracks, gaps, and joints in wood burning stoves and other heating appliances. This cement is specially formulated to withstand extreme heat and is capable of handling temperatures up to 1500°C (2732°F). It is a refractory compound that contains heat-resistant materials such as silica or alumina, mixed with a binding agent like water or a refractory filler. Fire cement is commonly used to seal stovepipe joints, repair small cracks or gaps in the stove’s firebox, and attach stove rope seals. It provides an airtight and heat-resistant seal, preventing the escape of smoke, gases, and excessive air. Using fire cement helps to improve the efficiency and safety of the wood burning stove, ensuring proper combustion and preventing heat loss.
